The ancient city of Tomis is an archaeological site located on the territory of the municipality of Constanța. 

The entire peninsula (after the discoveries of recent years) is occupied, immediately under the layer of the modern city, by a multitude of monuments. The layers of ancient material culture follow one another under the modern cobblestone in the order: Byzantine, Roman, Hellenistic, Ancient Greek and Archaic Greek in which native material from the first Iron Age (Hallstatt) also appears. The height of the stratification varies between 1 m and 7 to 10 m, reaching the present sea level.
